Bromelain belongs to a group of protein-digesting enzymes obtained commercially from the fruit or stem of pineapple. Bromelain is a mixture of different thiol endopeptidases and other components like phosphatase, glucosidase, peroxidase, cellulase, and several protease inhibitors.
